Stealth camping can be a daunting experience at first, but once you get the hang of it it's liberating!

Of course, I'm not encouraging anyone to do anything without doing your research. Always make sure to respect local regulations when it comes to parking.

That being said, here are some general spots where you can park your camper van over night...

- Industrial neighborhoods: Usually lots of parking at night and if your van looks like a delivery van, you'll fit right in. Not always the safest though, make sure to take security measures wherever you park.

- Near Parks: In a city called Longueil in Quebec, you can actually park for up to 24h in many city parking lots (including those of parks). Otherwise, there are usually lots of parking spaces around parks that aren't in front of any houses in most neighborhoods.

- Outside Major Cities: Of course, it gets better in the suburbs but if you go even further outside of any major city, parking starts to become more abundant and you can find some pretty secluded areas with no restrictions. One of the best way to find these is to use an app called iOverlander.

Some other general guidelines...

- Don't park in front of houses, especially if you van has windows (which guarantees it will never be stealthy)

- Avoid installing windows in your camper van and avoid any flashy van life accessories (awnings, roof racks, etc...)

- Arrive late, leave early

So, what are some of your favourite stealth camping tactics?

Do you have any favourite hiding spots?
